Obituary for Patricia Irene Kiley

Patricia (Pat and Patsy to all who knew her well) passed away at her home at the age of 83 with family by her side. Patricia had stage 4 non-operable lung cancer and was a patient of Pikes Peak Hospice. Patsy had a big beautiful life where she was so loved and accomplished a lot of important work and service to others.

Pat was born December 8, 1935. Her parents were William and Verna Inglis. Pat lived a short time in Trinidad and then her family move back to the Springs with her and her two sisters, Betty and Billy. Her father started a real estate company and was quite successful. Pat attended Palmer High School and then went on to continue her education at Colorado College. Pat was involved in a sorority, enjoyed working on the newspaper and did well at her studies. She graduated with honors and received her bachelors degree.

Pat went to work for Pueblo County as a social worker and made a huge difference in people's lives doing some tough, important social work that included child protection and welfare. She later became a supervisor and a designed a "work for assistance program" that became known as WIN and it was a big success. People who had struggled in the past were able to become employed and self-sufficient. She served in a number of positions and supervised many other staff as well. Pat retired after twenty-seven years of dedicated work in that community. Pat was intelligent and ahead of the time in the workforce as a female and was very successful. Pat was well read, quiet, methodical and precise in all she did.

Pat was married to Jim Kiley who was the director of El Paso County Social Service. Together they had three children, six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. The couple divorced after twenty-seven years but remained respectful of each other. She attended all the children's sports and occasions. Pat was an excellent wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, friend and employee.

Patsy would be described by anyone who knew her as gentle, loving and giving. She was fun, loving and had a beautiful contagious laugh. Patsy was above all kind. No one ever heard her say a cross word about anyone and everyone was the same to her, all equal. She would do anything for her friends and above all her family. Patsy enjoyed golf, going to arts and crafts fair, making crafts, and her amazing skill was china painting. She learned to paint when she wintered in Arizona with her sister, Betty. Her kindness was what everyone loved about her.

A private family celebration for her life was held on April 19, 2019 where her family gathered, shared stories, and had a meal together as she wanted. Pat was cremated by The Springs Funeral Services.

In lieu of a service and flowers, memorial contributions in Patsy's memory may be made to the Pikes Peak Hospice Foundation at: https://www.pikespeakhospice.org/donate-today

Patricia will be very missed by friends and especially her big beautiful family. Many members of her family thinks she is with her sisters laughing and catching up like they loved to do, pain free and in peace.
